Who should attend

Deploying HP ProCurve Switches is designed for network technicians and engineers who must configure and deploy switches and routers to meet basic connectivity requirements.

Prerequisites

The required prerequisite for Deploying HP ProCurve Switches is Getting Started with HP ProCurve Switching and Routing, a web-based training module available from the ProCurve web site. For learners who are very new to networking, the HP ProCurve Networking Primer is also recommended, which is available on the ProCurve training web site www.procurve.com/training .

Course Objectives

Deploying HP ProCurve Switches provides the skills and knowledge necessary to deploy ProCurve switches and routing switches to support the basic connectivity needs of SMBs and enterprises. Through hands-on lab activities, in-class exercises and discussions, and facilitator lecture, Deploying HP ProCurve Switches covers topics ranging from basic device configuration to static and dynamic routing.

Course Content

  • Basic switch security parameters such as passwords for management access
  • Software and configuration file architecture
  • VLAN configuration and design
  • Link aggregation using Link Aggregation Control Protocol (LACP)
  • Single- and multiple-instance Spanning Tree
  • Static routing
  • Dynamic routing using the Routing Information Protocol (RIP)
  • Designing networks with ProCurve switches
