Course Objectives

This course includes detailed knowledge of the comprehensive Signalling System 7 (SS7) standards und functions.

  • Concepts and application areas of SS7 Nets
  • Operating the SS7 Nets: associated, quasi associated, not associated
  • Operation of SSP, STP, SCP
  • Addressing and routing with the MTP
  • Interconnection points to other networks
  • ISUP messages and their meaning (f.E. IAM, SAM, ACM u.a.)
  • Performance characteristics: Clip no screening, call forwarding, CCBS
  • Addressing and routing with the SCCP
  • Operating and workflow of the INAP
  • Analysis of traces to ISUP and INAP
  • Routing of service call numbers (z.B. 0800, 0900)
  • Local number portability
  • Next Generation Signaling
  • SS7 over IP
  • IETF SIGTRAN
  • Signaling Gateway
  • SCTP
  • M2UA, M2PA, M3UA, SUA
