Portbasierte Authentisierung mit 802.1x (PBA)

Who should attend

All employees who plan the operation of the 802.1x Protocol standard in combination with cisco devices and who need the required basic knowledge for configuring the corresponding software.

Prerequisites

Basic knowledge of Cisco devices.

Course Objectives

Facing the fact that the number of attacks on IT company networks increase, system personnel have to think permanently about optimised protection of the network access. In addition to devices like firewalls and intrusion prevention systems, which are checking the data traffic, it is important to conduct an early check of the user access to the network. In combination with a RADIUS Server, the 802.1x-Protokollstandard allows a port based authentication which was originally designed for the access over LAN switches. Recently this standard is also very popular in Wireless LAN environments.

Course Content

This course imparts the necessary theoretical and practical knowledge for operating 802.1x in Cisco Switch environments with the operation of the Cisco Secure ACS Server. After the course, delegates will be able to:

  • Rate security problems in switched environments
  • Explain how IEEE 802.1x works
  • Describe the different EAP (Extensible Authentication Protocol) standards
  • Configure 802.1x together with Port Security
  • Optimised use of 802.1x in interplay with different VLAN
