Who should attend
This course is designed for system administrators, support personnel, installation planners, field representatives, partners and product engineers who maintain, troubleshoot, and administer the EMC EmailXtender environment
Prerequisites
To understand the content and successfully complete this course, a student must have a suitable knowledgebase/skill set. The student must have an understanding of
- Network administration in a TCP/IP environment
- Email administration using Microsoft Exchange
- Email archiving and management using EMC EmailXtender
- SAN, Fibre Channel issues (hardware components, installation and configuration)
- SCSI device configuration (cabling and addressing)
- Microsoft clustering services
Student must have completed the following pre-requisite courses
Course Objectives
This advanced level course discusses administering and troubleshooting EmailXtender environments in more detail. The course provides a thorough knowledge of various utilities available to maintain an EmailXtender system. The course discusses ingestion of PST files into the archive, verifying the archives, storing container files on a Centera. Participants will also learn how to configure EmailXtender for disaster recovery and high availability environments. Hands-on labs, provided in a Windows 2003 environment with a Microsoft Exchange 2003 mail server, include migrating containers to Centera using DiskXtender for Windows.

- Discuss the various methods of archiving messages using EmailXtender
- Use various EmailXtender utilities for system maintenance
- Perform advanced administration tasks
- Explain the operation of EMC User Cache
- Archive messages to a Centera using DiskXtender for Windows
- Troubleshoot the messaging environment and identify and correct specific issues
- Configure EmailXtender for disaster-recovery and high availability environments

- Lab 3-1: Installing EmailXtender User Cache
- Lab 4-1: Archiving to Centera using DiskXtender for Windows
