Microsoft SQL Server Integration with CLARiiON Workshop (SQLCL)

This course is intended for EMC Implementation personnel, ASN Partners, and Customers who will be implementing complex Exchange infrastructures on CLARiiON arrays.

To understand the content and successfully complete this course, a student must have a suitable knowledgebase/skill set. The student must have an solid understanding of Microsoft SQL Server administration and architecture, this should include a basic knowledge of SQL Server 2005. A student should also have a comprehensive understanding of the CLARiiON arrays, and their layered applications such as SnapView, MirrorView, and SANCopy. In addition, a basic understanding of EMC’s RepliStor and RecoverPoint will facilitate the completion of all lab exercises. This expert level workshop focuses on the deployment of SQL Server 2005 in a FLARE 24 CLARiiON environment. Learn the best practices to implementing SQL Server 2005 on an external CLARiiON storage array, such as spindle count, RAID configuration, and database layout. Also considered is local replication and recovery using EMC Replication Manager 5.0, including database DR. Finally, remote replication solutions – both synchronous as well as point in time – will be covered using such EMC technologies as MirrorView, SanCopy, RepliStor, and RecoverPoint. This class supports the EMC Proven Professional CLARiiON Expert track.

Upon successful completion of this course, participants should be able to:

• Apply stated best practices when implementing Microsoft Exchange on CLARiiON arrays
• Demonstrate the ability to implement SQL Server replication solutions using EMC Replication Manager
• Appraise a SQL Server environment in order to recommend a given remote replication solution based on RPO/RTO considerations
• Use the skills learned to implement and recover SQL Server in a remote replication environment
