CLARiiON Remote Replication Advanced Workshop (CLRRET)
Who should attend
This course is intended for EMC Implementation personnel, ASN partners, and customers who presently or plan to:
- Implement remote data replication solutions in a CLARiiON environment
- Utilize FC and FC/IP technologies
Prerequisites
To understand the content and successfully complete this course, a student should have knowledge and skills associated with the following:
- Basic understanding of Microsoft Windows and Unix/Linux administration and operation
- A comprehensive understanding of CLARiiON storage systems and EMC SnapView
- A basic understanding of EMC’s MirrorView and SAN Copy software
- PowerPath performance, transparent recovery and availability features in an open systems host environment
- SAN terminology, features, architecture, theory of operations, and management including Fibre Channel and IP Storage networks concepts and EMC Connectrix switches
- A basic understanding of the TCP/IP protocol suite, and IP addressing
A list of specific prerequisite courses can be found in EMC Education Services Learning Management System
Course Objectives
This expert level workshop focuses on the deployment of CLARiiON Remote Replication Software in a FLARE 28 environment. The skills taught here are useful for environments requiring data migration and/or disaster recovery solutions. Extensive hands-on labs are provided for MirrorView/S, MirrorView/A, SAN Copy, Incremental SAN Copy and FC/IP implementations.
Upon successful completion of this course, participants should be able to:
- Configure SAN Copy and Incremental SAN Copy for CLARiiON to CLARiiON data transfer
- Manage and monitor SAN Copy sessions
- Configure MirrorView/A and MirrorView/S for CLARiiON to CLARiiON data transfer
- Manage and monitor MirrorView/A and MirrorView/S mirrors
- Configure and manage MirrorView Consistency Groups
- Discuss differences and similarities between FC/IP protocols
- Configure a Connectrix MP-1620M switch to support remote data replication
- Configure a Connectrix MDS9000 family switch to support remote data replication
- Apply stated best practices when implementing remote replication solutions on CLARiiON storage systems
- Configure and test FCIP connectivity
- Configure and test iFCP connectivity
