NAS Performance Workshop (NSPERF)

To understand the content and successfully complete this course, a student must have a suitable knowledgebase/skill set, including an understanding of :

• Celerra architecture and features
• IP Networking
• CLARiiON array configuration
• Navisphere Manager

The NAS Performance Workshop is an advanced level NAS course designed to provide NAS participants with the ability to design and implement NAS solutions with performance in mind. The student will learn to diagnose and troubleshoot NAS performance issues related to host (Celerra and client), network, CLARiiON storage array, workload characteristics, and EMC features. This course currently supports Celerra version 5.6.

Upon successful completion of this course, participants should be able to:

• Define NAS performance from an EMC perspective
• Use IOMeter, Navisphere Manager, Navisphere Analyzer, and Celerra Manager to diagnose and troubleshoot NAS performance issues
• Explain the operation of Automated Volume Management (AVM)
• Explain the performance characteristics of CLARiiON storage arrays, and the Celerra
• Diagnose and troubleshoot NAS performance issues related to poor file system layout, network problems, and EMC features
• Use EMC “Best Practices” when proposing and implementing NAS solutions

Assessments

Assessments validate that you have learned the knowledge or skills presented during a learning experience. This course includes a Case Study presentation and a lab to demonstrate acquired skills.
