Celerra MPFS Solution Design and Implementation Workshop (NSMPFSWS)

This course is intended for students with a Celerra background who are responsible for planning, designing, implementing and supporting EMC’s MPFS solutions.

To understand the content and successfully complete this course, a student must have a suitable knowledge/skill set. The student must have an working knowledge of the following technology concepts:

• Strong background in the configuration of the EMC Celerra hardware
• CIFS and NFS for EMC Celerra
• IP Networking configurations for EMC Celerra
• File system concepts for EMC Celerra
• Basic CLARiiON host-to-LUN management concepts
• SAN host-to-storage concepts for Fibre Channel and iSCSI protocols
• Basic Microsoft Windows and UNIX skills

This course provides an in-depth education of Celerra MPFS, focusing on its architecture and the types of environments and applications where it is best suited. The students will learn the steps needed to configure MPFS using the Fibre Channel and iSCSI protocols (integrated with a Cisco MDS switch and a CLARiiON combo card). This course also provides training on connecting to Windows and Linux hosts. Students are also introduced to the use of the MCM tool to analyze and configure an MPFS environment. Labs reinforce the lecture for both configurations. This course is currently supports Celerra version 5.6.

Upon successful completion of this course, participants will be able to:

• Describe what MPFS is and how it works
• Discuss and understand the integration of solution components into production environments
• Describe the basic iSCSI architecture and technology involved with an MPFS implementation
• Describe the basic Fibre Channel architecture and technology involved with an MPFS implementation
• Describe the Celerra MPFS implementation and best practices
• Successfully configure MPFS for iSCSI with the CLARiiON combo card
• Successfully configure MPFS for iSCSI with a CISCO MDS switch
• Successfully configure MPFS for Fibre Channel with a Fibre Channel switch
• Use MPFS tools to analyze and configure an MPFS environment
• Understand and discuss the components and scope of the EMC Technology Solutions service kits for MPFS

Assessments validate that you have learned the knowledge or skills presented during a learning experience. This course does not have an assessment test. Validation of knowledge is the successful completion of labs, along with an instructor evaluation.
